The Kok Family
We love to seeing our customers come back for more. One of our repeat customers, the Kok Family wanted more. Previously Brad Donald one of the resident photographers for Double Vision Photography did their first shoot. They were so happy with the results from their previous studio photo shoot, they decided to do a another family photo shoot, except this time with their daughter Mia who had just turned 6 months. Elize Kok, being the mother came into our photography studio to discuss the photo shoot and how we were going to go about taking the photographs with a option of a variety of different props that we were going to use. We discussed using balloons tied to a basket and angel wings, which was the priority props to feature in their photos. We also discussed different portrait options and lighting settings.
The background which I decided to use was a light grey, because mom and dad were wearing white and Mia was wearing soft pastel green clothes. What’s great about the grey background is it’s a little softer than the harsh white background and the skin tones are a little warmer to. I also used the grey background to create a pastel feel to the images just so that it blends a little better into the studio surroundings. With white clothes I also didn’t want everyone to disappear. I also did a few portraits using the brick background which added some texture and patterns, just to mix it up a little. The photo shoot was fantastic as everyone had lots of fun and even tho Mia didn’t look much at the camera, we still managed to get the best out of the time that we had.
When you take photos of kids it requires lots of patience. When I say patience, I mean rattling toys, clapping your hands, even using a lava lamp to get their attention. Taking photos of babies doesn’t always go to plan as they a little too young to follow your lead but as a photographer you need to take full advantage of the little moments you get. When Mia did look at the camera I didn’t pass up the opportunity of framing Mia when it mattered most. Big thanks to the Kok family for trusting Double Vision Photography to capture all those special moments with their family photos.
