Family photographic shoots – The do’s and don’t on what to wear
Family photography shoots are always a lot fun here at Double Vision Photography as you get to meet some amazing people and also every photoshoot that we do is always a little different from the next. The quality of photos you see coming out of our photographic studio are quite special. In this Family Photography blog I would like to use the Modikoane family as an example when it comes to dressing for a shoot of which they consisted of 4 family members including a beautiful 6 week old boy.
The family arrived wearing similar shades and their dress code was quite formal. Although beautifully dressed, for this kind of shoot we normally capture images a little different because it’s not as easy to have families sitting down wearing a tight dress or even a jacket and tie. Needless to say formal photos of the family make great images too. What I generally find is that if you are coming to do a family photo shoot with us, it’s always better to dress a little down to a point where you are casual but uniformed. Try wearing the same colours, whether its blue jeans and white shirts or blue jeans red shirts. The photos tend to look a little better when you have some kind of uniformity. We also advise that when doing a photography shoot, try and stay away from stripes and patterns because they make the photos look a little harsh, even writing and slogans because that’s what your eye picks up first. Trust me, you don’t want to frame a picture where every time you look at it all you see is a brand before you actually look at the person and emotions inside the image. By doing this it just creates more of a unity but needless to say complimentary colours work well too. For example, red and green, purple and yellow and even blue and yellow. These examples are another way of enhancing your photos when it comes to making your photos look better just by what you wear to the shoot.
